Statements and Speeches of Atatürk is a work which consists of a collection of Atatürk’s sayings and writings between 1906 – 1938. The 1st volume of this work in 1945, the second volume in 1952, the third volume in 1954 were published in 1964 with the name “Statements and Speeches of Atatürk” and the fourth volume was published with the name “Circular Letters, Telegraphs and Manifestos of Atatürk”. This work was collected by Nimet Arsan (Unan) who was the manager assistant and public servant of library archieve and museum. It is possible to say that to make a book out of Atatürk’s statements and speeches is not only an outcome of the efforts aiming to explain the Turkish revolution to the public and have them adopt to it more easily but also that in time it has been used to introduce Turkish revolution and regime in and out of the country. Statements and Speeches of Atatürk of which different publications have been done since 1945 including the 1981 edition was published by the Institute of Turkish Revolution History. Extended editions of the work were published by adding the sayings and writings of Atatürk in “Statements & Speeches, Circular Letters & Telegraphs of Atatürk V” which was published by Institute of Turkish Revolution History to the Statements and Speeches of Atatürk which started to be published by the Atatürk Research Center and was prepared by Utkan Kocatürk and Sadi Borak. Although a concordence was done for the first edition of the fouth volume of Atatürk’s Statements and Speeches Series, no such work was done for the first three volumes. In this study aiming the removal of this deficiency, a concordence has been prepared for the work originally based on the last edition of Statements and Speeches of Atatürk I-III, published in 1997. The thesis called “Atatürk’s Speeches and Statements with its history, compilation and index” consists of three parts, in the “introduction” of which basic concepts are discussed terminologically and these kinds of works outside Turkey are covered; the first chapter called “History, Compilation and Content of Atatürk’s Speeches and Statements” which emphasizes the works done with the similar aimsivbefore the publication of Atatürk’s Speeches and Statements and the compilation of work, aim of publication, content and importance; the second chapter called “Publications of Atatürk’s Speeches and Statements in different periods” in which Publications of Atatürk’s Speeches and Statements in different periods and those periods are briefly evaluated; the third chapter called “Studies done on Atatürk’s Speeches and Statements and similar works” in which studies done on Atatürk’s Speeches and Statements and similar works are introduced. Apart from these, “Index of I-III Atatürk’s Speeches and Statements” is evaluated under another title in which there is index of I-III Atatürk’s Speeches and Statements.
