271 SUMMARY NÎHANİ is a Poet of a Classical School From KASTAMONU lived in the epoch of SULEÎMAN the Maghificent. His actual name, Birth and Death Dates have not been encountered in the Historical Sources. In accordance with the information granted by LATİFİ TEZKİ RESİ and KUNHU’L-AHBAR, NİHANİ had been appointed to the mission of Cadi (Judge of Islamic Canon Law, in Ottoman History, Governer of a Borough) reluctantly and later on, he had left that mission by his own wish. NİHANİ had stated that the mission of Cadi was more diffi cult than the other difficult jobs and that many of Cadis, in his epoch, had received a bribe without preventing their wishes, and ambitions and that they had shown consideration and respect to the temporary fames and as he would not be able to commit such evil deeds he had left the Cadi’s post and he had shown the same as reason forhis leaving the post. We do not know wheter or not NİHANİ had dealt with any other business after leaving this post of Cadi. In accordance with the information indicated in the Sources he had tried to become far from the community by keeping himself in his reclusive corner, NİHANİ” s poems are in scuh manner that they are instructive and inspiring to avoid from the things forbidden by the Religion.272 In his poems, deep devotion to the God’s love and being the World Trans itory are stressed continiously. The number of poems belonging to the Human Fine and Fineness in his Literature containing his collected poems arranged alpha betically, do not exceed twenty, for that reason, it is required to consider him as a Poet of the Classical Scholia. In NİHANİ, the density of the meaning and sense which are available in the important Mystical Poets like FUZULİ and ŞEYH GALİP, has not been seen, in the language and method he has used, there are clearness and simplicity. By taking these into consi deration, we can say that he v/as in the opinion to call out to the ordinary people. We have determined three copies of his literature containing his collected poems arranged alphotically, two of wich are in the MİLLET KÜTÜPHANESİ (Ali Emiri), and one is in the NURUOSMA- NİYE KÜTÜPHANESİ. The criticized text of the Literature mentioned above has been formed by comparizon of these three copies. In the comparizon of the copies, it has been tried, as much as possible, to determine the text written by NİHANİ himself, and while this was being executed, meter, plait of rhyme and meter, and NİHANİ’s style have been taken into account. As to the arrangement of his poems, the Copy (A) which is regular, has been taken as basis»
