| ÖZET Sâmiha Ayverdi’nin eserlerinde Batı kültürünün değerlendirilmesinin yapıldığı bu çalışmada, Batı kültür ve medeniyetinin oluşumunda önemli rol oynayan târihî olaylar, bu kültür ve medeniyetinin temel unsurları ve Batı’nın Doğu ile ilgili politikaları ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde Batı kültür ve medeniyeti için dönüm noktaları sayılan belli başlı târihî gelişmeler ele alınmıştır. Batı’nın Doğu ile karşılaşması her iki medeniyet için önemlidir. Batı’nın Doğu’daki ilim ve tefekkür merkezleri ile teması sonucunda Batılı kendisini yetiştirmeyi bilmiş ve kendine yepyeni bir medeniyet kurmuştur. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünü oluşturan Batı kültür ve medeniyetinin unsurları, Batı dünyâsını anlatmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu unsurlardan biri de Batı dünyâsının genel anlamda dini olan Hıristiyanlıktır. Ayverdi’nin eserlerinden yola çıkarak Hıristiyanlığın zuhur ettiği ilk günden itibaren Batı toplumuna ve tüm beşeriyete etkisi, kilisenin taassubu, dini yaşatmak yolunda kilisenin mücadeleleri ve bu dinin Batılı insanında yansıması anlatılmaya çalışılmıştır. Batı toplumunu anlamak için önemli bir noktada bu dünyada etkili olan düşünce sistemini anlamaktır. Ayverdi, Batı felsefesini oluşturan etkenleri, bu etkenlerin sonucunda ortaya çıkan, madde yönünden güçlü Batı toplumunu ve bu toplumun kurtulabilmesi için çıkış yollarının neler olabileceği konularını ele almıştır. Sâmiha Ayverdi’nin üzerinde durduğu bir başka unsur ise Batı toplumlarının sosyal yapısıdır. Bu yapı içerisinde yer alan çocuk, kadın ve ihtiyarın günümüz Batı toplumundaki yeri, yazarın eserlerinde sıkça rastlanan tespitlerdir. Bu sosyal yapı içerisinde Batı’nın temizlik anlayışı irdelenmiş ve gezip görülen şehir ve kasabalarla örneklendirilmiştir. Ayverdi, Batı toplumunun bir ifâde şekli olan sanat eserlerine de değinmiştir. Bu sanat eserleri Batı toplumunun inanç değerlerinin yansıdığıyerlerdir. Zîra din unsurunun yoğun olduğu dönemlerde sanatkâr yoğun şekilde dînî temalar işlemiş, makineleşme çağında ise mânâdan yoksun eserler vermiştir. Yazarın, batı sanat anlayışında değindiği bir nokta ise Batılı’nın sanat eserlerine verdiği önemdir. Çalışmanın en son bölümünü oluşturan üçüncü bölüm ise Batı’nın Doğu üzerinde yürüttüğü politikaların neler olduğunun tespitine yöneliktir. Bu politikaların başında misyonerlik gelmektedir. Hıristiyanlık, kilisenin yürüttüğü yayılma politikası ile dünyâda girmedik yer bırakmamıştır. Ancak Batılı, gittiği yerlere inanç sistemini götürmenin yanı sıra o yerlerin bütün nimetlerinden yararlanmasını da bilmiştir. Ayverdi, sömürgeciliğin Batılı’nın özünde olduğunu ve hangi şekilde olursa olsun sömürgecilik politikasından vazgeçmeyeceğini belirtir. Yazarın üzerinde önemle durduğu bir husus da Türkiye’de uygulanmak istenen nüfus plânlaması adı altında Türk nüfusunu azaltma politikasıdır. Yazar, Batı’nın uygulamak istediği bu üç politika karşısında okuyucusunu uyarır. | |||
| ABSTRACT In this study, Western culture has been studied in the works of Sâmiha Ayverdi. Within the frame of this study, historical dates that play an important role in the formation of Western culture and civilization, the basic elements of this culture and civilization and the political strategies on Eastern countries are analysed. In the first chapter of the study, important historical dates for the Western culture and civilization are handled. The date when West and East met was very important for both civilizations. Westener found a way to improve himself and formed a new civilization after the contact with the scientific and philosophical centres of East. The objective of the second chapter of this study is to explain Western world with the basic elements of Western culture and civilization. One of these elements is the religion of the Western world, that is Christianity. Taking all of Sâmiha Ayverdi’s works into consideration, Christianity, its influence on Western society and all around world, the fanaticism of the church and its struggle to survive Christianity and the reflection of this religion on Western people are all tried to be explained from the beginning of their existence. Another way to understand Western society is to comprehend the philosophical basis that are effective in the world. While explaining the philosophy of Western civilization, Ayverdi deals with the elements that are composed of this philosophy with the Western society that is powerful in mundane matters and the results of the so called elements. Furthermore, Ayverdi deals with the solutions for the survival of the society. Another basic element that Sâmiha Ayverdi pointed out in her works is social structure of the Western culture. The child, the woman and the old people’s place in today’s Western society is frequently dealt in our author’sworks. In this social structure, Western comprehension of cleaning is examined and is exemplified with the Western towns and cities that were visited by the author. Another point that the author talks about is the foundations in this society. Ayverdi mentions about the works of art in Western society that reflect the society. These works of art are the objects where the beliefs and values of Western society are expressed. In the periods when religious elements were intense, the artist intensively used religious themes. On the other hand, in the mechanization periods, the artist created works of art deprived of meaning. Another thing that the author mentions about is the importance given to the works of art by the Westeners. The chapter that forms the last chapter of this study is about the political strategies of Western countries on Eastern countries. The most important policy of West is the policy of missionaries. Christianity was spread all around the world with the expanding policy that the church led. Taking the belief system with him to the places he went, Westener took all the favors of these places back to his country. Ayverdi points out that colonialism is in the essence of Westener and he won’t give it up. Another point that the author gives importance is the birth control that is imposed to be carried out in Turkey. This is one of the Western political strategies in order to reduce the Turkish population among them. The author warns her readers about these three policies that Western countries try to put into practice in our country. | |||
