| Selmân-ı Fârisî İran asıllıdır. İsfahan’ın Ceyy köyünde doğmuştur. Doğum tarihi konusunda kesin bir bilgi yoktur. Ancak ölüm tarihine dayanarak, Hz. Peygamber’in doğumundan(571), 5-10 yıl sonra doğduğu tahmin edilmektedir.Selmân-ı Fârisî’nin çocukluğu ve ilk dönemleri ailesinin ve atalarının dini olan Mecûsîlikle geçmiştir. Mecûsîlikte ateşi devamlı yakan makamına kadar yükselmiştir. Babasının görevlendirmesiyle ilk defa evden ayrılan Selmân, kilisede sesler duymuş ve Hıristiyanların ayinlerini seyretmiştir. Babasına gördüklerini anlatan Selmân, babası tarafından sert tepkiyle karşılanıp hapsedilmiştir.Hıristiyanlarla iletişimi koparmayan Selmân, evden kaçarak Şam’a gitmiş ve Hıristiyan olarak din adamlarından ilim öğrenmiştir. İlim uğrunda Şam, Musul, Nusaybin ve Ammuriye kiliselerini dolaşmıştır. Yanında kaldığı son papazın yönlendirmesiyle Hicaz’da yeni bir peygamberin çıkacağı müjdesini alan Selmân, Arap tacirlerle Hicaz’a gelmiş ve ihanete uğrayarak köle olarak satılmıştır. Daha sonra Medine’ye köle olarak gelen Selmân, Hz. Peygamber’le tanışarak Müslüman olmuştur.Hendek savaşı’ndan itibaren Hz. Peygamber’in bütün savaşlarına katılan Selmân-ı Fârisî, Hz. Ebû Bekir, Hz. Ömer ve Hz. Osman devirlerinde de yaşamıştır. Özellikle İran’ın fethinde bu orduda bulunmuş, elçilik, komutanlık ve teftiş görevlerinde bulunmuştur. Üstün gayretleri ve ahlakıyla Hz. Ömer tarafından Medain valiliğine atanan ve bir müddet valilik yapan Selmân-ı Fârisî, 36/658 yılında Medain’de vefat etmiştir. | |||
| The origin of Selmân-ı Fârisî is Iran. He was born in the village Ceyy. There is no precise information about his birth?s date. However, based on his death?s date, it is predicted that he was born 5-10 years later from the birth of the prophet Muhammad (571).The childhood and earlier years of Selmân-ı Fârisî passed in Mazdaizm, the religion of his family of ancestors. In Mandaizm, he was raised to the post which continuously lights a fire. With his father?s charging with a duty, Selmân leaving his home first time heard some voices from the church and watched the rites of the Christian people. Selmân, who reported to his father the things he saw, was reacted severely by his father, and was put in prison.Selman not cutting the communication with the Christian people went to Damascus, escaping from the house. He became Christian and learnt knowledge from the religious scholars. For the sake of religious knowledge; he walked around the churches of Damascus, Musul, Nusaybin and Ammuriye. With the last priest?s directing he stayed with him, Selmân having some good news that a new profit will appear in Hicaz arrived to Hicaz together with the Arabian merchants. He was underwent a betrayal there, and bought as a slave. Later, Selman coming to Medina as a slave met the prophet Muhammad and became Muslim.Selmân ?ı Fârisî participating in all wars of The Prophet Muhammad, beginning from Hendek War, lived in the reigns of Abu Bakr, Omar, and Osman. Particularly during the conquest of Iran, he had been in this army and serviced ambassador, commander, and inspector. Due to his superior efforts and good morality, Selmân-ı Farisî was assigned by Hz Ömer to the governorship of Medain, and after serving as a governor a little time, died in 36/658 in Medain. | |||
