India is a geography that has been sought by especially Turks, then Iranian tribes and Afghans, Ethiopians and Muslim Arabs who all have left their impressions on the language, religion, race and culture here. In the pre-Islamic period, Sakas and Akhuns, and in the post-Islamic period, Ghaznavids and Ghurids had tried to dominate this country by organizing invasions without exactly settling down here. As a result of the conquests of the Muslim Arabs in Sindh, religion of Islam spread here and with the decrease of Arab influence in the region, Islam had the opportunity to spread up to South India with the help of Turks. As a result of this, Turkish Sultanate of Delhi, which was a remainder of the Ghurids, became the first Turkish-Islamic state to expand from north to south. The Turks have become permanent in the southern regions of India because of the Bahmanis, who were the remainder of the Turkish Sultanate of Delhi and the first Islamic State to be established in South India and also due to the fact that especially Turks and Iranians had a voice in its administration. Adilshahis were a Turkish-Islamic state that emerged on the stage of history as the remainder of the Bahmanis in South India and became the first state to declare the Shiite sect in India. In our study, the arrival of Turks and Islam in South India from the north gradually and how it became permanent here, establishment of the Adilshahi Khanate by Yusuf Adil Shah declaring independence while he was a governor in the Bahmani dynasty, his relations with the southern states, his announcement of the Shiite sect and the his successor, Ismail Adilshah’s ascension to the throne will be examined.
